{In the short interview above, Jackie Sample explains how the divorce has caused her to lose her salon}
The salon on 641 West 119th Street on the far southside of Chicago is currently empty, looking a bit like a war zone.
It’s now a blight on this far southside Chicago community, but it wasn’t always that way.
Jackie Sample has owned this salon for well over a decade. During better times, it was packed with customers and employing up to twelve independent contractor stylists.
Jackie owned the building and was constructing a cafe. Here’s what that cafe looks like now.
Jackie told me she received a $200,000 grant to turn this property into a cafe, and she was honored by the local alderman for her business acumen in the community.
Both projects took a back seat when Jackie used her construction experience to build, from the ground up, her dream home with her then husband Dr. Madison Sample. Unhappy with the contractors hired, Dr. Sample asked his wife to take over the project, which she did. The majestic home now sits completed, after three years, in a gated community in Burr Ridge, Illinois.

Now, she’s on the cusp of losing it all.
Shortly after the home was completed, Dr. Madison Sample filed for divorce.
In a move straight from the book, Screw the Bitch, he moved all their money from joint accounts into individual accounts.
She had no access to the money they both had.
Not only can Jackie no longer access their bank accounts, but she can’t access millions- she told me- in cryptocurrency they both invested in.
Besides the cryptocurrency, Jackie said there’s millions in other assets.
In court, the DuPage County system is allowing Dr. Sample to get away with this torture.
No judge- in particular Lazy Judge James Orel- has ordered him to grant Jackie access to the accounts she rightfully should have access to.
Judge Orel has ordered Dr. Sample to pay her a pittance monthly.
It’s barely enough to maintain the house. She struggles to pay for lawyers; at times, her electricity and other utilities get shut off.
With barely enough to live on, she’s had to abandon her businesses. The cafe is nothing but a dream now.
The salon is closed; the mortgage hasn’t been paid since November 2023.
The property is in foreclosure.
It’s dilapidated and vulnerable to criminals, Jackie said, explaining more below.
Now, she’s on the brink of losing it all. Dr. Sample has represented to the court that the only asset is the home. Lazy James Orel has ordered it sold.
Dr. Sample claims the home is only worth $1.8 million. Jackie told me they did a loan on the property, and the bank appraised it at close to $3 million.
If Dr. Sample gets away with it, Jackie may walk away with $100,000.
