Michael Volpe Investigates Podcast The Impromptu: Episode 33 an Interview with Karen Riordan, Rory Doyle and Leann Carey

All three are survivors of the Connecticut court system: particularly Dr. Jessica Biren Caverly

Today, I had three guests on the podcast: Rory Doyle, Karen Riordan and Leann Carey.

All three have had to survive the Connecticut court systems and they each ran into Jessica Biren Caverly.

Two- Rory and Karen- have recently been featured in Wayne Dolcefino videos which are below.

Rory

Karen

Dr. Biren Caverly, who did not respond to my email for comment, is a prolific court appointee inside Connecticut courtrooms. Both Karen and Rory had her on their child custody case, while Leann had her in a Department of Children and Family (DCF).

I initially asked each of them to describe Dr. Biren Caverly in their case.

“Caverly was strategically appointed to do a psychologicaly evaluation.” Rory told me. “When they have nothing against you, they have to manufacture it. So, that is where Caverly comes into play. She dismisses objective, medical records: definitive reseach data, and she provides a fraudulent opinion based narrative. She lies under oath. She is a danger to children and families in any capacity.”

In Rory’s case, his ex-wife had attempted suicide, been diagnosed with bi-polar and other mental disorders, and it was documented in court testimony that his ex-wife was on eighteen medications.

This was all dismissed by Dr. Caverly who recommended custody for Rory’s ex-wife.

“Biren Caverly was the only name I was given.” Karen said, “She met with us a minimal amount of time. My kids- because I have the notes from when they came out- my daughter came out crying after the session with Biren Caverly. My son felt he that they weren’t believed, and basically, they weren’t. Instead of listening to me- instead of listening to my children- we were all deemed liars, and everything went in my husband’s favor. I think the biggest thing that I can point is that in her report there was nothing that was fact checked. It was all story telling.”

Karen was a stay at home mom who largely raised her adopted kids on her own because her now ex-husband, Chris Ambrose was in Hollywood working as a script writer.

But using Dr. Caverly and others, Ambrose successfully painted Karen with the parental alienation label and she has not seen her children in about two years.

In Leann’s case, she eventually had her rights terminated and her children adopted out with Dr. Biren Caverly’s input playing a large role.

“Her psych evaluation was used twice. She did an initial evaluation, and then, she did a re-evaluation.” Leann told me. “At the initial evaluation, she recommended a terminal of parental rights.”

In Leann’s case, her kids were taken due to domestic violence on her ex-husband’s part.

Her ex-husband had been in prison for about a decade, among numerous incidents.

Still, the system decided to only attempt reunification with him and when he failed, the kids were adopted out.

As Dolcefino pointed out, Dr. Caverly’s credentials to make recommendations in these cases are dubious.

“Caverly got her PhD in clinical psychology, but she studied the psychology of weight loss. Her fellowship was in autism, not bi-polar disorder, and she’s not a medical doctor.” Dolcefino said in Rory’s video. “She can’t prescribe the medications she’s criticizing. So, when did she become such an expert.”

Still all three told me her opinion was held great sway.

Karen said, “In my case, it was the singular piece of information that was used at a contrived ex-parte hearing. She came in. She gave a report and my kids were taken immediately.”

“It was taken as gospel, with no evidence.” Rory told me, “Her word in this collaborative- she works closely with guardians- is strategically taken as gospel, and it’s strategically subjective because if it’s objective medical records, you can’t move children around, so you get an opinion from a fraud like that and that’s how it works.”

Leann also told me Caverly’s opinion held a great deal of sway.
