It’s been more than two months since I checked on parents expressing their frustrations about family court and child protective services on social media.

That’s an example of the priorities that exist in family court. Child support is set right away, but getting a hearing to establish custody can take months if not years.

In North Carolina, parties are required- by statute- to go through mediation before anything else is done.

Here’s another thing I learned about the State of North Carolina.

In North Carolina, you can be denied access to your child but still be made to pay child support. We have a fatherless crisis in this country and the State of North Carolina’s laws are contributing to it.
