On Action Radio Talking Johnny Depp Vs Amber Heard
I weigh in on what I called "The Trial of the Century"
I joined Greg Penglis on his show Action Radio in the third hour to talk about the Johnny Depp Vs Amber Heard trial.
Find the interview here.
When we started the interview, Greg did not seem to consider this trial to have much significance.
As I stated, this trial has become a cultural phenomenon because of the celebrity, but also because everyone gets into relationships.
Many have bad relationships; some suffer abuse while others are falsely accused of abuse.
It is for those reasons that I believe there was so much attention: because many people can relate.
There is one very important audio which explains why this trial is very important.
"Tell the world, Johnny, tell them, Johnny Depp, I, Johnny Depp, a man, I'm a victim too of domestic violence," Heard said in the audio, "see how many people believe or side with you."
He did and the world overwhelmingly believes him.
The days of believe all women are over and obviously, Johnny Depp has shown that men can be abuse victims too.
Many people reading this may be thinking that they already know men can be abuse victims too, but clearly, Amber Heard did not believe this was a widespread view.
I don’t think she was the only one; I also don’t think anyone will have that thought again.
I also noted that many judges and others who are in family court often complain that it’s difficult to know who is telling the truth: that the accusations are often of the he said/she said variety.
The Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial had exactly those kinds of allegations. Many people were transfixed and for most, figuring out truth from fiction was not that hard.
I told Greg that this is likely due to the Depp/Heard trial being conducted fairly, orderly, with both sides being able to present their case; that’s not what you get in family court.
Maybe, the lesson is that it’s time for family court to provide rules of evidence, due process, and the ability for both sides to present their cases fairly.
AGREED!
