More With Convict Randall Raar
He's being held by the Michigan Department of Corrections; he talks more about the conditions there.
Randall Raar had lots to say to me so here is another part of our conversation.
Raar is currently being housed by the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) as the Richard A Handlon Correctional Facility in Ionia Michigan.
He told me he believes that there is much prison corruption due to federal funding streams.
“The state is targeting the wrong men. All the state needs to prosecute men is for the ‘accused’ to show up in court and the men are toast. I can show you how easy it is to get convictions in CSC cases.” Raar wrote through JPay. “NOTE: The state is doing this because they get FEDERAL $$$ for these cases. This is fraud!!!! Men are being told to plead or face 25 years in prison.”
He never identified the specific funding streams but he did describe a scheme similar to Social Security Title IV and it’s influence on Child Protective Services.
The proliferation of plea deals has been well documented.
“The dominance of plea bargaining as the primary method of disposing of criminal cases is even more evident in the federal criminal justice system.” One site stated.
Their abuses, what Raar alleges, is also not a new phenomenon and has been discussed in numerous places.
“Coercive Plea Bargaining Has Poisoned the Criminal Justice System. It’s Time to Suck the Venom Out,” the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) stated in 2020.
