Note: the podcast is in two parts. On top, I interviewed Mike Kerry, and beneath that, I interviewed his mother, Lynne Kerry. Both discussed events from the spring and summer of 2023, when they discovered that Mike’s toddler son, Arlo, was being abused by his mother, Ana Rojas, and the coverup which followed.
It was a frightening and blood curdling sound. Arlo, then less than a year old, screamed out in pain. His mother, Ana Rojas, took pleasure in his pain. All of it caught on video.
Mike Kerry heard his son screaming in agonizing pain multiple times per week, he told me, starting in the spring 2023.
When he’d come out to check, Ana Rojas, Mike’s then wife, always had the same excuse. Arlo had fallen.
Arlo hadn’t fallen; Ana was assaulting her toddler son with her elbow.
Arlo was suffering; before the abuse, he walked on his own, and after, he needed to hold onto something.
Ana had restricted oxygen to his brain, Mike told me, and this caused his motor skills to regress.
Arlo was examined by a pediatrician who contacted Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). On July 7, 2023, caseworker Lauren Clement came to Mike and Ana’s home to investigate.
Clement did not respond to an email and phone call for comment. Mike said Clement told him she’d be back on July 10 and would prioritize the investigation.
Rojas is the Counsel General for Costa Rica, a high-ranking diplomat. I reached out to her attorney, Farbood Majd, but he didn’t respond.
Clement quickly ignored the video and the abuse, and instead, she turned her attention to Mike Kerry. On July 14, 2023, she spoke with LAPD officers, in a conversation caught on body cam.
“He’s been concerned mom’s been hurting the baby since April this year. We do have the open investigation, and we’re now investigating the allegations, but I’m getting more concerned with dad throughout my time with this.” Clement told the LAPD officer.
She continued, “I also talked to mom this morning. I recommended her to talk to her attorney (Majd) to get a restraining order.”
Clement even asked the cop if they helped Rojas get a restraining order.
“No, cause we could only offer the EPO {emergency protective order} and that’s only for like domestic violence victims. Basically, she was telling me there was no physical abuse. She doesn’t like the way he talks to her.” The cop explained to Clement.
LAPD was also busy trying to change the narrative. They interrogated Lynne, suggesting that the doctor only referred the case to DCFS because she and her son convinced the doctor there was abuse.
“I was kind of just asking some questions about the pediatrician. Pediatrician is the one who contacted DCFS about this. My question to them was the pediatrician due to the child’s health did they see anything or was it because statements being made to the pediatrician?” The LAPD officer noted.
Mike told me that the pediatrician did a thorough examination before calling DCFS.
Mike also stated that the bodycam footage was designed to create the impression that there was no abuse, and instead, the problem was Mike Kerry.
On July 31, 2023, Ana called LAPD again, for an alleged violation of a restraining order. I previously interviewed Mike about these events.
Ana conjured up a bogus restraining order. Mike was let go on July 31, only to be arrested again the next day. No restraining order ever existed.
“Upon further investigation, utilizing department resources (MI check, DVROS, and a check with WLA principal clear) Officers were unable to substantiate that an active restraining order has been served,” a police report from August 31, 2023, stated.
Mike Kerry was still convicted of violating this non-existent restraining order. LAPD did not respond to an email for comment. The police report above was withheld, a Brady violation, until after the conviction.
Using the violation of restraining order conviction, Ana got sole custody and moved with Arlo to Costa Rico. She also got a five year no contact order.
She was cleared of child abuse allegations.
