I call BULLSHIT on the Idaho Senate Judiciary Committee. Police investigate crimes every day—assaults, domestic disputes, fraud—situations far messier than a custody order with names, dates, and terms. But here? Suddenly they’re “not truth detectors”? That’s not incompetence—that’s avoidance. The legislature didn’t just reject a bill; it rejected accountability. The testimony makes it clear: cops are already showing up, already dealing with these disputes, and already walking away because no one wants the paperwork or responsibility. That’s the dirty secret. This isn’t about complexity—it’s about a system that quietly tolerates lawbreaking as long as it happens inside family court. And kids pay the price.
