Gottesfeld Claims CMU Failing in Counterterrorism
In another correspondence, Gottesfeld claims the CMU has failed in its primary mission
Marty Gottesfeld is at it again.
He sent another explosive correspondence from prison.
He is currently being housed in the Communication Management Unit (CMU) in the Federal Prison in Marion, Illinois.
There is another CMU in Terre Haute, and Marty had previously been housed there.
The CMU is a euphemism; it’s been called akin to a black site prison.
Inmates in the CMU are usually jihadis or other very dangerous individuals.
Then, there are those like Marty: he calls he and others like him “balancers.”
They are mostly white, non-violent, or at least much less violent.
There are handful of “balancers” in the CMU; here is part of an article I did for The Daily Caller.
While Schaeffer Cox was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, none of the other four — Neal, Gottesfeld, Warren, and Johnson — are violent offenders, unlike Hamrick, who has been imprisoned since the 1980s. In the unfinished article, Cox wrote that there are about 80 people in CMU, many of whom are jihadis.
Schaeffer Cox witnessed Neal’s murder, according to Angela Clemons, a supporter of Cox’s who spoke with him.
Cox was the leader of a militia in Alaska when, in 2012, he was convicted of conspiracy to murder federal employees including law enforcement.
In 2017, an appeals court threw out some of his conviction and in November 2019, a judge reduced his sentence.
He’s now scheduled to be released in 2024.
Clemons said Cox told her a handful of the inmates at the CMU are non-jihadis, inmates he referred to as “balancers.”
This is not the first time Marty has made serious allegations against the CMU. In September 2021, he sent me a letter which included an allegation that the US Bureau of Prisons was covering up for the sexual harassment of a guard. Here is part of that letter.
Yet the largesse continues in Little Guantanamo and BOP’s CTU office in West Virginia. Rather than any recognizable form of counterterrorism this money is spent in no small part sheltering BOP officials like Mr. Royer, who otherwise would likely face felony indictment for sexual abuse and other crimes.
Now, of course, at the same time the BOP openly retaliates against me for reporting Mr. Royer it ignores its own numerous obligations regarding the many substantiated reports of his sexual abuse. While Mr. Royer’s conduct goes unchallenged even as he escalates to thinly veiled, unescorted, off camera sexual advances, reaching his hand into occupied prisoner showers, and voyeurism of prisoners defecating, my attempts to speak out about are brutally suppressed.
At roughly 7:05PM tonight, Monday, September 20, 2021, when the incident report was delivered to me, I told the delivering lieutenant all about Mr. Royer’s ongoing sexual abuse. Mr. Royer’s voyeurism his reaching into occupied prisoner showers his unwanted off-camera sexual advances. I told him BOP has never done anything to curb has abuse.
America has the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) its standards apply to the BOP with the full force of congressional enactment. See 34 USC sec 30307 (b) Applicability to Federal Bureau of Prisons (The US Attorney General’s PREA standards ‘shall apply to the Federal Bureau of Prisons immediately upon adoption of the final rules.’)
He also spoke to me about the failing US Bureau of Prisons policies regarding COVID in 2020.
Previously, the CMU has shut down all communications between him and the outside world, particularly after such a disclosure.
Undeterred, he has sent another note. I reached out to the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP), but they did not reply. The US BOP also did not respond when I reached out in 2021 regarding the sexual harassment allegations.
