Child custody case continues for man in jail for trying to kill his ex-wife and her uncle
Venkatesh Bhogireddy is in a federal prison in Pennsylvania, but a Cook County court is not sure how much custody time he should get.
Venkatesh Bhogireddy is currently a resident of FCI Allenwood, a federal prison in Pennsylvania.
He’s been a federal prisoner since 2021; last year he was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife and her uncle.
With federal guidelines, Bhogireddy is likely to get out of jail in 2029.
Despite that set of facts, a court in Cook County, Illinois, continues hearing evidence in the child custody case with his ex-wife, Usha Karri, the same woman he pled guilty to trying to hire a hitman to kill.
In fact, the court has scheduled a custody trial for February 2025.
The case is currently being presided over by Judge Patricia Fallon.
Now, in a cruel twist of fate, Usha tells me she fears that she may go to jail.
For years, Bhogireddy has managed to pay his attorney, Jami Buzinski, and the guardian ad litem, Lynn Wypych, despite being in jail.
I reached out to Buzinski and Wypych, but I received no response.
Recently, Judge Fallon ordered Usha to pay some of the GAL bill. Usha said this violates state law. 750 ILCS 5/506(b). That section of the law states, “The reasonable fees of a guardian ad litem appointed under this Section shall be fixed by the court and charged to the parents of the minor, to the extent they are able to pay.”
Usha told me she is on public aid, and even worse, Judge Fallon has allowed Venkatesh to fall way behind on his child support. Below is part of a recent motion Usha filed.
At the same time, Judge Fallon did not order VENKATESH to order the Child Support and its pending arrears (pending since 2020), currently in the amount of $72,950 (as of Oct 31, 2024) as I brought to the Court’s attention during the above hearing on October 29, 2024, which is mandatory as per 750 ILCS 5/505. It was part of the retaliation by Judge Fallon against me for reporting the ‘Cash-for-Crimes’ criminal scheme to this Court as part of the “Motion for Disciplinary Action on ‘Cash-for-Crimes’ criminal scheme by Judges and Lawyers” I filed on September 6, 2024 and on October 23, 2024.
Usha is currently pro se and filed a clumsy motion entitled: MOTION TO RECONSIDER AND MODIFY THE ORDER FOR ‘CASH-FOR-CRIMES’ CRIMINAL SCHEME BY JUDGES AND LAWYERS, GAL’S ATTORNEY FEES AND TRIAL, ENTERED ON OCTOBER 30, 2024 AND OTHER RELIEF
The motion was denied, Judge Fallon has ordered Usha to pay $4,333.50 to Wypych.
Usha said the judge has threatened her with contempt if it’s not paid and may send her to jail.
Usha said she has no way to pay. and worries for her safety if she is jailed.
This is pure insanity. The man is in jail. Why is the court wasting valuable time and resources on a case like this? Crook County Corruption at its best.
