Bonus Coverage: Interview with Cassandra Thomas

The grandmother in the explosive Ohio child custody case did speak with me.

Late last month, I published the disturbing interview and story with Jennifer Joslin.

Jennifer has four kids of her own, but she felt duty bound to raise three of her sister’s kids.

She had no choice. Her sister was deemed unfit, and her sister’s fiancé was convicted of molesting one of his soon to be stepdaughters. The whole thing played out on the Steve Wilkos Show.

Jennifer told Wilkos she would go for sole custody if she found out her sister looked the other way on the molestation, and she has kept her promise.

She has been given custodial rights and she is considered both by the law and in every other way to be her sister’s three children’s mother.

That all happened a few years ago. Currently, Jennifer is in a court fight with her sister’s fiancé’s mother- one of the children’s biological grandmother.

In Ohio, Magistrate Caitlin Nevin granted the grandmother- Cassandra Thomas- “companionship time”.

This has created a court standoff, because not only is Cassandra’s son a convicted child molester, but she has a record of her own.

Jennifer is adamantly opposed to granting any contact between her young daughter and her grandmother, particularly after the court ruled that the visits take place unsupervised at Cassandra’s home.

None of this has held any sway in Magistrate Nevin’s courtroom, and she has ordered for Cassandra to have one eight hour visit per week with her biological granddaughter.

Jennifer’s sister was pregnant with this child when the sexual molestation was discovered.

Jennifer has resisted and Magistrate Nevin has found her in contempt of court.

There is a hearing scheduled for the end of September, where Jennifer may be jailed.

“Ms. Joslin, if I were you, I would try and make up these missed visits, because I can impose a jail sentence.” Jennifer remembers the Magistrate Nevin telling her in court on August 18, 2023.

I call Magistrate Nevin the Wicked Witch of Ohio because she has a pattern of downplaying abuse.
Part of a recent order setting a September 28, 2023, hearing to determine what, if any, punishment Jennifer should face for refusing Cassandra’s “companionship time.”

When I originally released the article in August, Cassandra had not responded to my voicemail for comment.

That all changed today.
