An Arlington, Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) lawyer is citing me as a reason for not providing court transcripts in a case I have been following.
Jason McCandless has been harassing Beatrice “Bea” Rivera for more than a year.
In 2020, the Arlington DSS took custody of her son and they have not yet returned him.
Bea does not even live in Virginia; she lived in Alabama and then moved to Maryland, after her son was taken.
She was in Virginia, she told me, in November 2020 for business; her autistic son got a bruise after he ran off.
Bea told me she called the police herself, but once DSS was called, they used the incident as a trigger to eventually take her son.
Days after her son was taken, Bea got a court order giving her son back, but by this point, DSS had transferred custody to a relative in California.
Her son was moved- or maybe trafficked- back to Virginia at the end of July 2021 and his case remains open.
He lives in foster care.
